CONSERVATION WORK

BEGINS

The Friends of St. Bridget’s contributed £12,000 towards urgent repairs to the Grade 1 listed church.

At the beginning of September, I. J. Preece & Son Ltd were instructed to start to strip then to felt and batten the roofs before the end of October when bats hibernate.  The roofs will then be retiled during

the 30 week contract which also provides for proper drainage, masonry repairs and work to the interior of the church.  Craig Hamilton Ltd of Powys are the appointed Architects, alongside Frank Haywood Associates, structural engineers and Parry & Dawkins,  quantity surveyors.

The Friends of St. Bridget’s raised money during 2011 through a Concert at Kentchurch Court, a Gardens

Open day in June, Barbecue and Book Stall in July at the Skenfrith Fun Day, a Wine Tasting and a

sponsored Walk in September followed by the Hog Roast and Cider Festival in October.  Together with

generous donations these events have helped to raise nearly £20,000.

The Trustees of the Friends thank all Friends, Donors and Supporters for their contribution and encouragement.  We look forward to seeing you all at future events aimed at continuing the conservation

of this iconic Skenfrith building.
